Town Centre Exhibition: 5-8 May 2004 In The Harpur Suite
15th Jul 2004
All our Borough residents will get the chance to have their say on the future of the Town Centre when Bedford Borough Council holds a Town Centre Exhibition in the Harpur Suite, Bedford, everyday from Wednesday May 5th to Saturday May 8th. You will see the first draft of the Town Centre Development Framework illustrating how the town should develop over the next 20 years. In preparing this framework, appointed consultants GVA Grimley need to carry out a consultation, so it is your chance to have your say.
St Modwen Developments, chosen as our partners for devlopment of the area in and around the bus station, will also show you their early thoughts on how that will look.
We will also have a shortlist of entries for the Castle Lane Design Competition, which has so far received over 140 enquiries - for you to see and comment on.
Riverside Square - the marketplace before it was returned to the Town Centre - will now have an imaginative development on it providing entertainment for all ages and a new waterside environment. Classical architect Quinlan Terry has been commissioned to prepare a sketch design for the site, which will be displayed at the exhibition.
Everyone will have the chance to comment on these latest proposals to redevelop the Town Centre. Staff will also be on hand to answer questions and to discuss plans for the future. Free refreshments will also be available.
There is plenty more to come - so come along to the exhibition and see what’s planned.
This is a very exciting time for Bedford Town Centre. We want your views on all our projects and we hope you will take the opportunity to give them and help make the Town Centre vibrant, vital and something to be proud of.
Come and see us - tell us what you think
