SEMLEP Private Sector Directors Appointed

After an extensive and high profile recruitment process SEMLEP, South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership, is pleased to announce the appointment of six Private Sector Directors to serve on the SEMLEP Board under the chairmanship of Dr Ann Limb OBE DL.

The successful candidates are:

Walter Greaves, Retired
Stephen Judge, Bonfire Creative Intelligence
Richard Phillips, Silverstone Holdings Limited
Cheryl Smart MBE, Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce
Tom Wells, Wells and Young

Dr.Limb Chair of SEMLEP said, ‘These private sector appointments represent a wide range of experience, business size, sector and geographic distribution across the SEMLEP area and will complement a board already distinguished by the calibre and commitment of its public sector directors. All the directors and I will work with businesses, communities and citizens throughout the region to establish SEMLEP as one of the most industrious, inclusive, innovative local enterprise partnerships in the country.’

In addition to the business chair and six private sector directors, the SEMLEP Board is made up six public sector directors, a higher education director, and an observer from the voluntary and community sector.

With its 1.891m population the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) is the 7th largest of 37 Government approved LEPs. Based on the four large conurbations of Bedford, Luton, Milton Keynes and Northampton it differs from all but one of the larger LEPs that are City region based. SEMLEP incorporates a number of high value clusters including advanced technology/precision engineering; creative industries; life sciences/biotech; and finance/businesses services.
