Regional Centres Of Manufacturing Excellence

A Government scheme designed to boost British manufacturing has generated more than £155m for the sector, politicians claimed this week (June 10th).  Trade secretary Alan Johnson said the Manufacturing Advisory Service which is delivered through 10 regional centres of excellence has exceeded its target of generating £93m for industry by 50%.  These latest figures show the governments firm commitment to support British companies and help secure the future success of UK manufacturing.  Fundign will increase to £34m over the next 3 years, half provided by the Department of Trade and Industry, mathced by the regaional development agencies and Welsh Assembly.  The service's aim is to address the practical operational needs of British Manufacturing, delivering affordable hands on advice and assistance from experts in a wide range of disciplines.
