Nominations needed for The 2010 Queen’s Award for Enterprise

Do you know of someone who promotes business enterprise skills and attitudes by encouraging, training or mentoring others? If you do, then why not nominate them for the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion 2010?

The Award was introduced in 2004 to celebrate and recognise the activities of individuals who have played an outstanding and significant role in promoting enterprise skills and attitudes in others in the UK.

Anyone can be put forward as a nominee for the Award but you cannot nominate yourself. Nomination forms can be can be completed and submitted electronically via the Queen's Awards website;

Those of interest to be nominated are:-

• Entrepreneurs, businessmen and women, investors and innovators who give their time and possibly financial support to other potential entrepreneurs, whether or not they are still in education or in the business start-up/growth stage.

• Those that are in education, training or youth work who are providing people of all ages, particularly young people, with enterprise skills and attitudes.

• Those involved in social enterprise that achieve business outcomes or equip others with business skills.


2009 saw a total of 11 Award winners from 3 categories;

The Award for Lifetime Achievement in Enterprise Promotion and The Honorary Award for Achievement in Enterprise Promotion both had 1 winner each. While the Awards for Achievement in Enterprise Promotion saw 9 winners in total.

The announcements will take place on the 21st April 2010, the Queen’s birthday. Successful nominees will be informed shortly before the announcements. Winners will have their names published in the London Gazette, they will also receive an engraved crystal commemorative item, a Grant of Appointment and will be invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace in July 2010.
