Can you put the East of England on the world’s stage?

13th Jun 2006

Communications professionals across the region are being challenged to help put the East of England on the world stage.

The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) today announced it is preparing to tender a range of communication contracts during the next six months to draw on the range of talent and expertise available in our region. The tenders covering a range of EEDA’s work over the next three years aim to raise the region’s profile, galvanise partners to work together and improve economic opportunities in the region.

The East of England is a world class region with a powerful economy and its strengths, and issues, need to be recognised by those in government, business and education locally and nationally. EEDA wants to work with suppliers who have the talent to convey complex messages creatively and get its successes heard.

With EEDA’s role to drive forward sustainable economic development companies have the chance to win contracts to:
• plan events to encourage business start ups and entrepreneurs
• build award winning websites to explain how partnerships are regenerating derelict sites to meet the challenges of the future
• devise hard hitting and thought provoking campaigns to highlight the areas of deprivation and skills gaps and how the region is meeting these challenges
• design collateral to demonstrate how the theme of enterprise is essential for our economy

Rachel Bosworth, director of communications, said: “The East of England is a hot bed of ideas and innovation, with hundreds of small and medium sized companies who have the skills to promote the region. The trouble is companies are either put off by the nature of the work or are reluctant to engage with the public sector. The simple answer is – you shouldn’t be.

“We want to work with talented companies who understand the East of England and the positive and sometimes testing issues which face us. The work which we are tendering will be challenging and will require great skill but don’t be put off - we want to work with best.”
