6th Dec 2006

Bedford specialist building contractor Irvine-Whitlock won an unprecedented three awards at the 2006 Brick Awards ceremony. Organised by the Brick Development Association and Building Magazine, the annual Brick Awards are one of the longest established and most widely respected design awards in the UK, recognisng excellence in design and construction using brick.

Each year hundreds of entries are submitted and 12 trophies are presented. Specialist Brickwork Contractor of the the Year reflected Irvine-Whitlock's exclellent, quality and environmental procedures, whilst Best Craftmanship awards and the coveted Supreme Winner award were attributed to Irvine-Whitlock's work on St Pancras station.

The judges were unanimous in their voting commenting: ''The Brick Awards are not only about rewarding extraordinary brick projects, they are also a celebration of the skill of the bricklayer. Once in a while you get a project where the quality of the work is so good that it rises way above anything seen before. This is certainly the case with the rebuilt western elevation at St Pancras station, the finest evocation of brickwork we have ever seen.''
