BDA Chair Peter Hughes presents at breakfast meeting

Peter Hughes, Chair of the Bedford Development Agency was the key speaker at the breakfast networking meeting on 10th March 2006. Peter was formerly CEO of Powergen International and has a number of interests in new starts.
Peter gave an energetic presentation about his experiences as a company executive and entrepreneur which included 'Sleeping with Bill Gates' and rubbing shoulders with The Queen. Some key messages were:
There is hope for all of us, if Bill can do it why can’t we?
The customer is always right but a well trained and courteous customer focused team willing to take the initiative will achieve the best outcome in difficult situations.
Customers are everywhere and problems that need the attention of the owner can arise at any time - how you handle these problems reflects directly on the reputation of your business.
Peter went on to talk about the renewables energy business and “...the energy crunch - how it will affect our businesses”. The talk stimulated many questions from the Audience and in true entrepreneurial form, Peter suggested there might be a few businesses opportunities that could be exploited!
