A421 Highway Improvements - Preferred Route

4th Jan 2005

In March 2004 a Public Consultation was arranged to seek views on the Highways Agency’s initial proposals to improve the A421 between Junction 13 of the M1 motorway and the Bedford Southern Bypass.  The results of this consultation are now available and the “Preferred Route” has been announced by the Secretary of State for Transport. The objectives of the scheme are to improve road safety, reduce traffic congestion and improve journey reliability for all users whilst protecting the environment wherever possible. A full copy of the Public Consultation Report can be viewed on the Highways Agency website: http://www.highways.gov.uk.  Copies of the report are also available for viewing in local libraries and the proposals are on display at The Forest Centre, Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire. For more information, please email A421M1toBedford@highways.gsi.gov.uk or ring the Highways Agency Information Line on 08457 50 40 30.
