A Low Carbon Future Starts Here........

Bedford College is a national leader in the field of training and education towards a low carbon future.

It shares the only Centre of Vocational Excellence award in the country for Skills for Energy which is aimed at ensuring sustainability in all areas of life and business.

Bedford College staged a Low Carbon Future information event at Cranfield University, Silsoe when among the guests were Frank Branston, the Mayor of Bedford, and Peter Hughes, Chairman of the Bedford Development Agency and former chief of Powergen.

Aimed at architects, planners, developers, installers, manufacturers, employers and individuals, the event involved speakers and seminars as well as exhibitions covering:

*renewable energy technologies
*solar water heating
*solar electricity (photovoltaic)
*bio energy
*energy efficient buildings and appliances
*sustainable communities

Director of Technology at Bedford College Esin Esat is a leading proponent of sustainable energy. She set the target for the college to gain its CoVE status in Skills for Energy which was achieved through collaboration with the local community and industry.

Esin has been actively involved in the work of BREF (Bedfordshire Renewable Energy Forum) and Beds SEP (Bedfordshire Sustainable Energy Partnership) since she joined the College in 2003.

The College is also a member of EEEGR (East of England Energy Group) working closely with many key organisations (including Universities, colleges, industry and government organisations) across the region.
