The next 15 years are set to be a time of real change for Bedford Town Centre.

The two giant cranes dominating Bedford skyline are an indication of the town’s aspirations for a bright new future. By 2021, the town centre will have seen major redevelopment to create new and improved shopping, leisure and cultural facilities, new housing, jobs and new public spaces.

The Exhibition attracted considerable interest with approaching 4,500 visitors attending the 4-day exhibition showing how Bedford should develop over the next 15 years. It also showed the progress the council has made in the four years since the last town centre exhibition and how new schemes are emerging.

Progress is well underway for Castle Lane, Riverside Square and the Town Centre West but what do you know of Bedford as a “Town of Mosaics” or the new public squares proposed for the town?

From the masterplan for Bedford Station Quarter to the potential to redevelop Bedford’s Town Hall Complex, the town centre exhibition provided the opportunity to see the latest plans, put forward your own ideas and help create an exciting new town centre.
