The Town Centre Area Action Plan sets out the spatial strategy for the regeneration of the town centre.
It builds on previous public exhibitions on the town centre in recent years and on the Bedford Town Centre Development Framework Study which was commissioned jointly by Bedford Borough Council and English Partnerships in partnership with Bedfordshire County Council and East of England Development Agency.
The Preferred Option outlines how the council thinks that that the town centre should change between now and 2021. The document sets out the council’s vision for the town centre and considers linked objectives, policies and site specific proposals. The document also deals with implementation and sets out the formal policies against which development proposals will be assessed.
